Born in Evanston, IL in 1948, Gail Larned grew up in Louisiana. She is self-taught in her field, which is fibre sculpture, beginning in 1968 when she learned to tie knots (macramé). Gail's first exhibition as a professional artist was in 1975 at Gallery 200 in Columbus, Ohio. Since then she has completed numerous commissions for residential, corporate and government clients. Most recently, she has installed two 14 foot tall free-standing flower sculptures at the US Botanic Garden in Washington, DC. Gail is committed to creating art that is joyful in spirit, and that brings a sense of lightness to the viewer, reminding us of the beauty of life. |  |
