I am a Visual Artist currently in my last year of a"Diploma of Visual Art." I recently finished my Certificate in Workplace training and Assessment. At the side of my house I have an Artist Studio which I run as a small business teaching students from the age of 7 - 18 in traditional Art skills. I also teach them exciting new contemporary ways of seeing things. Incorporating lessons in abstract art and little used techniques involving media perhaps not traditionally used in such settings as this. I began my journey in art with painting lessons in Watercolour, from a little known, but extremely talented Swiss man by the name of Rene Rime. He also helped me with the basic drawing skills I needed to begin with. To this day Watercolour is my favourite. Not because it was the first medium I attempted but because of it's mostly serendipitous nature. I branched out on my own in 2005 taking over Rene,s Students when it became necessary for him and his wife to move to Tasmania. This is when I really began experimenting in different medias - acrylic, pastel, ink and other less common materials such as candle wax, material and glue. Setting fire to canvas'is a technique I find very exciting and creative. I enjoy a range of mediums. From the Simplistic transparent watercolour techniques to the highly textural impasto techniques of acrylic and mixed media. Being a Christian, I also enjoy expressing my world views through my art. I am an ardent Creationist and find nature is full to the brim with delightful subjects. In fact there is a never ending supply. And at present nature and the ecological condition of the world are predominant subjects which I use to express myself. |  |
